If you are forced to retire early through serious ill health, you may be offered an incapacity pension. It will need to be approved by the Incapacity Pension Committee having received satisfactory medical evidence and a report from the RNLI’s Consultant Occupational Physician.
An incapacity pension is paid at the discretion of the RNLI and the Pension Trustees and you will need to give evidence of continuing ill health or disability and information about other employment gained at three-yearly intervals until your normal retirement date is reached.
