Can my pension be paid to a non-UK bank account?
Yes. However, if you wish your pension to be paid into a non-UK bank account, the cost of the bank transaction will be deducted from your pension before it is paid to you.
What if I need advice about my pension options?
If you are not certain about your pension choices and need advice about your options, you should speak to an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) if in the UK, or a Qualified Financial Advisers, (QFA) if in Ireland.
The People Admin Team and the WTW Administration Team can explain your options within the Scheme and RNLI, but they are not authorised to give individual advice on what is the appropriate option or decision for you.
What benefits are payable on my death?
If you die before retirement, the following are normally payable:
- a pension to your spouse, civil partner or dependant, and
- children’s pensions (If applicable)
If you die after retirement, the following are normally payable:
- a pension to your spouse, civil partner or dependant,
- a lump sum of any unpaid pension payments for the first 5 years of your retirement, and
- children’s pensions (if applicable)
How do I report the death of a Scheme member?
If you are the Executor or administrator of the Estate of a person who was paid a Scheme pension, or was due to be paid a Scheme pension, please contact the WTW Administration Team, and let them know the following details of the person who has died:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Address
- Date they died
- If the person died anywhere other than the UK, please confirm the country that they died ind.
- Name, address and contact details of the person or company dealing with their Estate (property, belongings, money), known as the Executor or Administrator.
- If there is a surviving spouse or civil partner, the name, address and contact details of the spouse or civil partner.
- If there is no surviving spouse or civil partner, or if their spouse or civil partner is not able to deal with their affairs, the name and address of their next of kin.
